Barry Larkin

Larkin’s time in the minors was barely a blink. The Reds picked him out of Michigan University in the first round of the 1985 draft, and immediately sent him to play Double-A ball for the Vermont Reds of the Eastern League. He began the 1986 season at Triple-A with the Denver Zephyrs, playing 103 games and earning American Association MVP honors. He was called up to Cincinnati that August, and didn’t look back.
