The Houston Astros picked Biggio out of Seton Hall University in the first round of the 1987 draft, and fast-tracked him to the National League. After the draft, they assigned him to the Asheville Tourists of the Single-A South Atlantic League, where he played out the season. In 1988, he was bumped all the way up to the Triple-A Tucson Toros of the Pacific Coast League. He made his Astrodome debut in June of that season, and stuck with the ‘Stros for a good chunk of the summer before being sent back to Tucson. He cracked Houston’s opening day roster in 1989 and didn’t look back. Biggio never played for another major or minor league team ever again–not even a one-game rehab stint–and retired in 2007 with Hall of Fame-caliber numbers.
