Greg Maddux

Hall of Fame, class of 2014




The Cubs took Maddux in the second round of the 1984 draft, and shipped the 18-year-old to Pikeville in the Appy League. He spent the entire ‘85 season at Single-A, honing his craft (video) with the Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League. He started 1986 with the Eastern League’s Pittsfield Cubs, and earned a mid-season promotion to Triple-A with Iowa in the American Association. He was called up to Wrigley Field that September.
