Harold Baines

Hall of Fame, class of 2019 




Baines was chosen by the White Sox as the top overall pick in the 1977 draft, and he rose quickly through their farm system. He went to the Appleton Foxes after being drafted, then played the next season at the Double-A level with the Knoxville Sox of the Southern League. His ’79 season was spent with the Iowa Oaks of the now-defunct American Association. At age 21, Baines began the 1980 season with Chicago.
