Ken Griffey Jr.

Hall of Fame, class of 2016

After Junior was picked first overall in the 1987 draft, Seattle sent him north along Puget Sound to spend his first pro summer with the Bellingham Mariners of the Northwest League. He started 1988 with the California League’s San Bernardino Spirit, then ended the season with the Double-A Vermont Mariners. The Kid was in the Kingdome to start the 1989 season, and the rest is history.
