Minors in the Movies

It’s no secret that the minor leagues have been featured on the silver screen several times, whether in brief mentions or as the focal point of the entire film. On one side of the spectrum you have Bull Durham, which caused a boom in interest in the minor leagues and is considered by many to be the best baseball film ever. On the other side of the spectrum you have Major League: Back to the Minors.

For this project, I’m watching or re-watching these movies, and keeping a trained eye on some specific things. All of these films have real-life minor league teams in them, and I’m looking to catalog and (if possible) image-capture these teams. This includes not only the teams associated with the protagonists of the films, but also (or especially) the opposing teams. I hope you enjoy this series, and please contact me if you see a movie that is missing.
