Halladay was a first round draft pick out of high school in 1995, and the Blue Jays sent him to their Gulf Coast League affiliate to pitch that summer. He stayed in Dunedin for the entire 1996 season, skipping over the low-A level to play for the Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League. He started the ‘97 season with the Double-A Knoxville Smokies, but was quickly promoted to join the newly-minted Syracuse SkyChiefs. Halladay spent the 1998 season in Syracuse, and crossed the border to make his MLB debut with Toronto that September.

Minor league teams that Roy Halladay played for, en route to the majors:

  • GCL Blue Jays (Gulf Coast League)
