Tom Glavine

Hall of Fame, class of 2014




Atlanta plucked Glavine out of high school in the second round of the 1984 draft and sent him to the Gulf Coast League for the summer. He spent the entire ‘85 season at Single-A, playing for the Sumter Braves of the South Atlantic League. He began 1986 in the Southern League with the Greenville Braves, and earned a late-season promotion to Triple-A Richmond. He played for the R-Braves for half of the ‘87 season, then got the call to the bigs that summer.
